Biography

Dr. Duan is an endowed Charles R. Walgreen Research Chair and Director of the Unit of Functional Genomics in Psychiatry at NorthShore University Healthsystem. He is an Associate Professor of Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience at the University of Chicago. Dr. Duan has made seminar contributions to the field of schizophrenia genetic and genomics research. Dr. Duan’s research is currently funded by multiple NIH grants, focusing on functional genomics of neuropsychiatric and neurological disorders in human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) and brain organoid models. The main research approaches include multi-omics profiling, gene network analyses, and CRISPR-based genetic/epigenomic perturbations, aiming to translate genetic findings of brain disorders to disease biology and clinical applications. Dr. Duan serves as a grant reviewer on multiple NIH study section meetings and other international funding agencies and the member of editorial boards of multiple journals. He has published >100 articles in Nature, Nat Genet, Cell Stem Cell, Science Advances, etc, with > 20,000 citations and a Google Scholar H-index of 47.
